Auto Correct: Parallel Parking

Do you dread parallel parking? Are you proud of your skill? Are you thrilled you have parking assist on your new car?

There are lots of tips and tricks to parallel parking.

1.    Make sure you have 1 and a half car lengths space to park.

2.    When you’re alongside the front car – look over your shoulder to see the front parked car’s bumper in your back side window – or your back bumpers are even or your side mirrors are even -  if you and the front parked car are the same size vehicles

3.    Turn the wheel to the right and angle back looking into your left side mirror until you see the front/road side bumper of the rear parked car

4.    Turn the wheel to the left to straighten out, and back straight in until your right side mirror covers your view of the front parked car’s left tail light.

5.    Turn the wheel to the left to get your car parallel to the curb using your right side mirror to site down the curb or edge of road.

Do you have parking assist? Or Active Park Assist?

The car has sensors to scan for available parking spots.

1.    You push the button as you cruise for a spot.

2.    The message center lets you know and chimes when it finds one.

3.    You then put the car in reverse, lift hands off the stirring wheel WHILE operating the brake and gas

4.    You’re parked in 15 to 30 seconds.

A recent study looked at driving fatalities between 2017 and 2021 to reveal the most dangerous ages for drivers in every state. New data has revealed that young drivers aged 19 and under are the most at-risk drivers in America, as they report the highest rate of fatal road accidents.  The research analyzed car crashes reported between 2017 and 2021 to identify the age of each fatality and reveal the most at-risk. As well as this, the study examined the states that see the highest fatality rates per age group. Mississippi has been named the second most dangerous state for young drivers aged 19 and under, with 220 deaths per 100k licensed drivers. Shockingly, this is a 133% increase than the national average, which was revealed to be 97 fatalities per 100k drivers. Although it was drivers 19 and under who were most at risk in Mississippi, data also revealed that the second-deadliest age range for drivers is 20-29. In total, there are over 500 deaths per 100K for drivers under the age of 30 in Mississippi. Auto Casey: 2024 Toyota Crown | Short Take
