We’ve got MDOT in the house to tell us about this crazy bridge repair that will detour south bound traffic on I-55 and west bound traffic I-20 in central Mississippi. TRAFFIC ADVISORY: MDOT will close all lanes of I-20 WB/I-55 SB at State Street in Jackson on April 8 to perform an emergency repair on a roadway failure that has resulted in a severe dip in the interstate.
The closure begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 8 and is expected to last 72 HOURS.
The temporary closure will have a MAJOR impact on traffic. During the closure, I-20 WB/I-55 SB traffic will be directed to I-55 NB and I-220 SB to detour around the closure. Local traffic should consider an alternate route on local roads during the closure timeframe.

A recent study looked at driving fatalities between 2017 and 2021 to reveal the most dangerous ages for drivers in every state. New data has revealed that young drivers aged 19 and under are the most at-risk drivers in America, as they report the highest rate of fatal road accidents. The research analyzed car crashes reported between 2017 and 2021 to identify the age of each fatality and reveal the most at-risk. As well as this, the study examined the states that see the highest fatality rates per age group. Mississippi has been named the second most dangerous state for young drivers aged 19 and under, with 220 deaths per 100k licensed drivers. Shockingly, this is a 133% increase than the national average, which was revealed to be 97 fatalities per 100k drivers. Although it was drivers 19 and under who were most at risk in Mississippi, data also revealed that the second-deadliest age range for drivers is 20-29.
